Highway 70 is a rough construction site

There is a speed limit in the construction zone, and traffic is sometimes restricted to a single lane in both directions.

Preparations are underway at harsdorfer berg for the 45-million-euro rebuild planned between the kulmbach/neudrossenfeld junction and the bayreuth/kulmbach triangle. Between thurnau-west, schirradorf and stadelhofen, the freeway authorities are also having the carriageway renewed in the direction of bamberg.

As marion kneibl from the freeway directorate of northern bavaria explains, the rehabilitation of the six-kilometer section near schirradorf had become necessary "because after 21 years, the road surface is breaking out in many places and cracks are appearing in the road network". As a result, both the substance and the service properties of the strabe have been severely damaged". In the direction of bayreuth, the road surface has already been repaired in places, so no renewal is planned at present.

Freeway exit closed

to keep the construction time as short as possible, the contractor was ordered to work from monday to saturday, taking advantage of the daylight hours. During the construction period, traffic will be guided with one lane in each direction on the route to bayreuth: this arrangement begins after the stadelhofen junction and ends before the descent of weiben berg. Since a new asphalt layer is also being applied to the schirradorf junction itself, this is to be closed in the direction of bamberg until 19 september. July closed. The entire project, which will cost 2.7 million euros, is scheduled to be completed on 26 june 2010. July will be completed.

Much longer the harsdorfer berg will be a construction site. Until october, the new construction of the eight-kilometer section between neudrossenfeld and the bayreuth/kulmbach interchange, parts of which date back to the time before the second world war, is still being prepared. The roadway is to be renewed in the direction of bamberg in 2013, in the direction of bayreuth in 2014.
