Pension hiccups and poverty

"Poverty is now part of everyday life in germany", chairman herbert heerdegen regretted in his annual report at the members’ meeting of the vdk local association coburg-stadtmitte in creidlitz. SPD member of the state parliament susann biedefeld confirms heerdegen’s impression. "The gap between rich and poor continues to widen." she pointed out the growing phenomenon of age poverty. A pensioner in the coburg district receives an average monthly pension of 721 euros, while in the city of coburg the figure is 712 euros. A pensioner in the coburg district earns 1130 euros a month, while in the city the figure is 1035 euros.
"You can’t live on that", said biedefeld and also criticized the discrepancy between the pension incomes of men and women. The deputy chairman of the vdk district association coburg, horst nikol, pointed out the indispensable role of the social association. "In these times of social insecurity, the vdk provides not only legal assistance, but also human support", said nikol. The legal jungle is becoming more and more complicated.
Heerdegen, biedefeld and nikol honored members for their many years of loyalty. Gisela friedrich, hilde barkov, nina gergert, karl rotterer, dagmar schonmann, brigitte seiler, barbara rudnik, joerg-uwe jasmund, reiner konhauser and geraldine fischer have been members for 25 years. 30 years member are erika marx, anita saller and walter neubauer.
